Here’s why it matters.
The Horn of Africa is facing the worst hunger crisis in 60 years. It’s bad. That’s why DC Entertainment created We Can Be Heroes.
This crisis is unlike any other in terms of displacement, starvation, and death of the population. More than 8 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia are in need of critical assistance. Hundreds of thousands have fled to refugee camps. The situation is so critical that in July 2011, the United Nations officially declared famine for the first time in 21 years.
Since then, progress has been made. Humanitarian aid organizations are on the ground working to help. And in February 2012, the UN lifted the famine in the region.
But the crisis isn’t over. Families there still need help—a lot of help. This is a fight that can be won. But nobody can do it alone. Now it’s your turn to join your heroes—and be one yourself.
Fight side-by-side with the Justice League and DC Entertainment and together we’ll raise awareness and funds for our three humanitarian aid partners who are delivering aid where it is needed most. Everything we do goes to support the life-saving work of Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps.
