Mercy Corps

Saving and improving lives in the world’s toughest places.

Mercy Corps is a global humanitarian organization that helps families in the world’s toughest places overcome poverty and disaster to build a better future. In 41 countries around the world, where people meet hardship with energy and hope, Mercy Corps is there. The organization helps people meet their own needs now and in the future – and become better able to withstand the next crisis.
In the Horn of Africa, Mercy Corps is bringing decades of expertise to help more than 1.5 million people survive drought and famine. In Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia, Mercy Corps is on the ground with clean drinking water, nutritious food and medicine for severely malnourished children and better sanitation systems to prevent the spread of deadly diseases. Mercy Corps also provides emergency financial assistance and short-term jobs to help families in crisis purchase the food and medicine they need to stay alive.

The funds raised through the We Can Be Heroes campaign will be used to save the lives of people in the most desperate need: orphans and other children, widows, the elderly and ordinary people who have lost everything. Mercy Corps is also working to help communities better cope with future cycles of drought and food shortages. Our goal is to help people stand on their own two feet – and support their families with dignity in the years to come.
